Finnish Minister of Defence, Mr. Antti Häkkänen, has greenlit the Finnish Defence Forces to enter into a partnership agreement with Bittium Wireless Ltd, a subsidiary of Bittium Corporation, spanning from 2025 to 2036. The goal is to finalize the agreement within 2024.

The essence of this partnership lies in bolstering defense preparedness for both routine and emergency scenarios. It ensures the availability, performance, and usability of crucial Bittium-supplied products and services for the Finnish Defence Forces across diverse conditions. Moreover, the agreement establishes frameworks for coordinated operations during emergencies, enabling Bittium to plan and deliver essential functions such as product manufacturing, servicing, repair, maintenance, and development.

Encompassing command and control systems utilized by all branches of the Defence Forces, including Bittium’s tactical communications system and associated products (like Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network™, Bittium Tough SDR™, Bittium Tough VoIP™), the agreement aspires to integrate this partnership seamlessly into the national defense strategy.

Johan Westermarck, CEO of Bittium Corporation, remarks, "Upon realization, this partnership agreement will facilitate systematic planning and execution of cooperation, benefiting both parties in a cost-efficient manner. Partnering with the Finnish Defence Forces enhances our credibility as a reliable partner, extending our reach into international markets."

The financial value of the agreement will hinge on the yearly armament requirements and funding allocated to the Finnish Defence Forces.
