Aguas Andinas, Chile’s largest water and sanitation company, was honored at the 2025 Critical Communications World Congress (CCW) for its advanced control and communication solution that supports the supply of water to millions of residents across Chile’s capital. The system from Motorola Solutions integrates a SCADA RTU system with a TETRA voice and data communication network to remotely monitor and control water processes and alert personnel via radio when action or maintenance is required.

The SCADA RTU system leverages a network of sensors across the water and sanitation network that relays critical data to the central monitoring system using the TETRA network as the data pipeline. For example, if a sensor identifies a change in water pressure in a valve, the SCADA RTU system relays the information to the command and control center where technicians evaluate the appropriate action, which may include opening or closing valves remotely and/or dispatching the technical repair crew via the TETRA radio network.
