London, UK â€“ The Global Certification Forum (GCF) and TCCA Critical Communications Association successfully hosted a dedicated one-day workshop in London focused on accelerating certification for mission-critical broadband services. The event was generously hosted by the UK Home Office Emergency Services Network (ESN) and brought together leading industry stakeholders, government representatives, network operators, and technology providers from across the global critical communications ecosystem.

With more than 50 participants attending in person and many others joining remotely, the workshop highlighted the growing industry commitment to advancing interoperable, standards-based mission-critical broadband solutions. As public safety and critical infrastructure organizations continue their transition from legacy narrowband technologies such as TETRA to next-generation 3GPP-based Mission Critical Services (MCX), certification remains a key enabler of a robust multi-vendor ecosystem.

The workshop provided a collaborative platform for industry experts to discuss certification roadmaps, implementation challenges, interoperability requirements, and future developments that will support the widespread adoption of mission-critical broadband technologies.

The event was co-convened by Asif Hamidullah of GCF and Harald Ludwig of TCCA, with contributions from a range of industry presenters and delegates representing major suppliers, public safety organizations, and government agencies. Their participation helped foster valuable discussions aimed at strengthening global collaboration and accelerating certification initiatives.

Certification plays a vital role in ensuring interoperability, reliability, and vendor neutrality across mission-critical networks and devices. By establishing common testing and certification frameworks, the industry can support seamless migration pathways from existing critical communications systems to fully standardized 3GPP MCX services.

The workshop forms part of an ongoing series of industry engagement events jointly organized by GCF and TCCA throughout the year. These sessions provide stakeholders with direct opportunities to contribute to the certification roadmap, share expertise, and help shape the future of mission-critical communications.

As the global critical communications sector continues its digital transformation journey, collaboration between standards bodies, certification organizations, technology vendors, operators, and public safety agencies remains essential to building a resilient, interoperable, and future-ready mission-critical broadband ecosystem.

The organizers extended their appreciation to the UK Home Office ESN for hosting the event, as well as to all presenters, delegates, and online participants for their valuable contributions. Due to strong demand and limited capacity, not all interested participants were able to attend, highlighting the growing importance of certification initiatives within the mission-critical communications community.
