[Shenzhen China --- 16 Dec 2025] Caltta Technologies, a global provider of professional wireless communication solutions, has successfully delivered its advanced Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) solution to Kaminholz Könen, a family-run timber mill based in Cologne, Germany. The project was implemented in collaboration with Caltta’s local partner, Maas & Weischer Funktechnik GmbH.
Founded in December 2005 by David Könen, Kaminholz Könen has grown into a trusted regional supplier of high-quality wood products. However, its day-to-day operations were increasingly constrained by outdated analog radio systems, which struggled to support efficient coordination and on-site safety in demanding working environments.
Analog Systems No Longer Fit for Demanding Operations
Effective communication is essential to Kaminholz Könen’s workflow. Daily operations require constant coordination between shredder operators, forklift drivers, and other personnel. The limited audio clarity and reliability of analog radios frequently led to delays and increased the risk of equipment damage.
In addition to its processing facilities, the company conducts tree-felling operations in Germany’s mountainous Eifel region, where stable and clear communication is critical for team safety. These operations take place in extremely noisy conditions—generated by chainsaws, forklifts, excavators, and other heavy machinery—and often in adverse weather such as rain. Under such conditions, the analog system proved inadequate.
DMR Solution Delivers Clear Audio and Reliable Performance
Caltta’s DMR solution addressed these challenges by providing robust, clear, and reliable communications in high-noise, dusty, and wet environments. Featuring advanced audio technology and high standards of dustproof and waterproof protection, the system supports both on-site production and remote mountain operations.
Since deployment, the solution has significantly improved team coordination, reduced the likelihood of equipment damage, and enhanced overall operational efficiency and safety.
“Analog radios had long been a bottleneck in our operations,” said David Könen, Founder of Kaminholz Könen. “Caltta’s DMR solution has dramatically improved communication clarity and reliability. Our daily workflows are smoother, and our equipment is better protected. We are very satisfied with the results and the partnership.”
Leo Li, Sales Director of Caltta Overseas, commented: “We understand the unique communication challenges faced by the timber industry, particularly in harsh, high-noise environments. Caltta’s DMR solution is designed to address these exact conditions. With the strong support of our partner Maas & Weischer Funktechnik, we are pleased to support Kaminholz Könen and look forward to serving more industrial customers across Europe.”
