Poland’s PANSA Advances Air Traffic Management with FREQUENTIS X10

Poland, August 2026 — The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) has deployed FREQUENTIS’ next-generation X10 Voice Communication System (VCS), strengthening the country’s air traffic management capabilities while supporting greater operational resilience, flexibility and future digitalisation.


The deployment represents another milestone in the long-standing collaboration between PANSA and FREQUENTIS. PANSA manages approximately 3,000 flights every day, overseeing one of Europe’s largest airspaces, making reliable and resilient communications a critical component of safe and efficient air traffic operations.


X10 Enables Virtualised Air Traffic Control Operations

The new X10 platform provides PANSA with an advanced IT-based voice communications environment capable of supporting a virtual centre configuration, enabling seamless interconnection between air traffic control centres across Poland.


The implementation comprises 74 operational positions, including 60 positions dedicated to active air traffic management and 14 positions for air traffic controller training. This configuration allows PANSA to support both live operational requirements and controller development within an integrated communications environment.


The deployment also reflects the industry's broader transition from traditional, hardware-centric voice communication infrastructure towards software-based, flexible and scalable platforms designed for increasingly distributed and virtualised air traffic management environments.


Software-Based Architecture Designed for Resilience

FREquentis X10 is a fully software-based, ATM-grade Voice Communication System designed to support both conventional and virtualised airspace operations. Its architecture provides operational flexibility while enabling integration with existing and future IP-based network environments.


The system incorporates multi-level redundancy and built-in cybersecurity capabilities, supporting continuous availability and resilience in safety-critical air traffic management operations. Its open architecture is designed to facilitate integration with evolving ATM infrastructure and technologies.


According to FREQUENTIS, X10 is designed as a long-term voice communications platform, combining modularity, scalability and an architecture capable of supporting future operational models including virtual centres and other increasingly digitalised airspace concepts.
