Tait Communications has reaffirmed its commitment to celebrating innovation in the technology sector as it continues its sponsorship of the prestigious Flying Kiwi Award at the upcoming NZ Hi-Tech Awards.

Originally awarded to Sir Angus Tait in 2003, the Flying Kiwi Award recognises individuals whose contributions have had a profound and lasting impact on New Zealand’s technology landscape. Sir Angus Tait, founder of Tait Communications, was honoured for his pioneering work in electronics and his role in shaping the country’s global tech reputation.

Presented annually as part of the NZ Hi-Tech Awards, the Flying Kiwi Award is considered one of the industry’s highest honours. It inducts a visionary leader into the Hi-Tech Hall of Fame, celebrating not just a single achievement but a career defined by innovation, leadership and influence across the sector.

Notable past recipients include Sir Peter Beck of Rocket Lab and Murray Holdaway of Vista Group, alongside other pioneers who have built globally recognised technology businesses.

The 2026 award winner will be announced at the NZ Hi-Tech Awards Gala Dinner on 22 May, where industry leaders will gather to celebrate excellence and innovation across New Zealand’s fast-growing technology sector.
