Zetron, a global leader in integrated mission critical communications solutions, today announced that it is delivering services as a subcontractor to Softcat, which has been awarded a contract by the Home Office, acting on behalf of the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP), under the RM6259 Vertical Application Solutions framework. Under this arrangement, Zetron is responsible for providing specialist control room capabilities in support of  ESN , which will deliver Great Britain’s next generation communications network for emergency services and government agencies.

Under its scope, Zetron will support the provision of control room systems and related services for ESN, including the development, testing, certification and deployment of an ESN compatible upgrade to its control room solution, aligned to programme requirements and timescales.

The upgraded solution will integrate with ESN Mission Critical Services in accordance with 3GPP standards, enabling secure and resilient voice and data communications between control rooms and frontline resources.

ESN will replace the existing Airwave TETRA network with a modern, broadband-based platform, representing a significant shift from narrowband communications to a high bandwidth environment capable of supporting enhanced operational workflows.

Terry Miller, General Manager, Zetron UK, said:“Being selected to support delivery of control room capabilities for the Emergency Services Network, working through Softcat as a prime contractor to the Home Office is an important milestone for Zetron. ESN represents a fundamental step forward in how emergency services communicate, moving to a modern, standards-based network that enables far richer information exchange between control rooms and frontline teams.

Our priority is to deliver an ESN compatible upgrade that meets the programme’s requirements while supporting our customers through the transition from legacy systems and enabling them to take full advantage of voice and data capabilities in a mission critical environment.”

ESN is a key national initiative designed to modernise communications across Great Britain’s emergency services, improving operational effectiveness and enabling new ways of working.

With over 40% of UK police forces already using Zetron’s ICCS, Cortex in their control rooms, the award highlights the critical role Zetron will play in helping organisations transition to ESN and ensure operational readiness.
