BlackBerry Limited has announced the renewal and expansion of its long-standing secure communications partnership with the Government of Canada, reinforcing its role as a trusted provider of mission-critical and sovereign communication solutions across federal departments and agencies.

The renewed multi-year agreement, signed with Shared Services Canada (SSC), will see the continued use of BlackBerry® UEM alongside a significant expansion in the deployment of BlackBerry® SecuSUITE®. The agreement underscores the Government of Canada’s continued confidence in BlackBerry as a strategic national partner and highlights the importance of Canadian-built technologies in safeguarding national security.

“This agreement reflects the Government of Canada's continued trust in BlackBerry as a long-term strategic partner for secure communications,” said John J. Giamatteo, CEO of BlackBerry. “As a Canadian company with decades of experience supporting governments and allies, we are proud to deliver interception-resistant communications that protect sensitive operations, strengthen sovereign capability, and support Canada’s broader objectives to invest in domestic innovation while exporting trusted security technology globally.”

Under the expanded scope, BlackBerry SecuSUITE will play a greater role in delivering government-grade, interception-resistant voice and messaging services. The solution will support senior government leaders, defence and national security officials, and public safety organisations operating in high-risk and sensitive environments. Purpose-built for mission-critical use, SecuSUITE enables end-to-end secure communications designed to function in contested scenarios without reliance on consumer-grade messaging platforms.

The agreement also aligns with Canada’s broader strategy to strengthen domestic defence and security capabilities by investing in sovereign technologies that protect sensitive government operations while enhancing export readiness. BlackBerry continues to leverage its decades of experience supporting governments, defence agencies, and regulated industries worldwide.

“In light of evolving geopolitical risks, adopting a made-in-Canada approach to federal technology is increasingly important to strengthen our digital sovereignty and enhance Canada’s global competitiveness,” said Jenna Sudds, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement and to the Secretary of State (Defence Procurement). “This contract extension with BlackBerry reaffirms our commitment to safeguarding Canadians’ information while fostering innovation and leadership in Canada’s technology sector.”

Trusted by NATO, all G7 governments, most G20 members, and eight of the world’s ten largest banks, BlackBerry Secure Communications continues to play a critical role in protecting national security, enabling sovereign communications, and maintaining public trust worldwide.
